Tips for the day of the journey

It's normal to feel sensitive and possibly excited, sacred, nervous, anxious, or anything else the day of the journey. Whatever you feel, notice and allow without reacting as you focus on your intention.
Here are some other tips to help you center and ground. Do not feel pressured to do anything if it feels like pressure. Simply letting yourself be is the best advice I can offer.
Mind & intention
As you focus on your intention and carry it with you through your journey, you may find breathwork, meditation, or prayer helpful. Maybe you have a mantra!
While it's nice to practice having a quiet mind, we should allow the thoughts and feelings that come, noticing, letting, and not reacting.
If you're having difficult emotions arise, be self-compassionate and loving.
I really suggest minimizing distractions like social media, news, and overall screen time. (I highly recommend storing your phone during and after the journey as it can be very disruptive and distracting.)
Set boundaries with others if needed.
Body & physical space
Eating before: I suggest not eating 3-4 hours before taking psilocybin. This can help prevent nausea and increase the digestion rate. If you’d like to eat, a small, light meal like oatmeal, a banana, or toast may feel light and easy on the stomach. Fasting is also effective and a great recommendation but you may feel lightheaded in the middle of the journey.
Snacks during/after: Bring a snack and drink to have during or after your journey (fruit, oatmeal, cookies, juice, coconut water, etc.).
Clothing: Dress comfortably in layers as you will be laying down. You may notice sensitivity to tightness of clothing and fluctuation in temperature. Do not wear any scented products as senses are heightened.
To bring: tissues, water bottle, blankets, pillows, eye mask; optional: altar items (stones/crystals, talismans, pictures of loved ones, medicine, etc.)
Spirit-centering
You may find spending some quiet time in nature beforehand can be connective and grounding.
You're welcome to perform a ritual before or after your journey. Keep it simple and sacred. This isn’t a good time to try new rituals, stick to things you already practice.
Lean on your support
And lastly, lean on your support system and guide for anything that you need before, during or after your journey. This is your sacred journey and I am honored to support you in any way you need.
Remember the tools we discussed in preparation. I'm here if you need a reminder or hand.
